Roots (www.rootslearning.org) is a Capacity Building Platform aimed at strengthening Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Community Organizations (COs), and Social Enterprises (SEs) in South and Southeast Asia. Roots is the realisation of our dream at Phicus which has always been to build capacity at scale.  Hosted by Phicus Social Solutions and seed-funded by the Packard Foundation, Roots supports leaders, managers, volunteers, and changemakers through resilience-building capacity development.

Roots aims to serve over 1000 CSOs and COs in the next 3 years, touching the lives of over 15,000 changemakers.  Through its various offerings, Roots is committed to amplifying community social impact by building organization and changemaker resilience, capacities and capabilities.

Roots’ Coverage

Over the past several months, we have offered learning events on a host of topics including how to leverage AI in our work, why climate change should matter to all of us, time management skills, leadership tyles, how to conduct impactful program evaluations and much more! We are currently running the maiden batch of Excelerate, a learning journey for high potential mid to senior leaders.  Also on offer is Sahuri, a novel solution to build field staff capacities through audio letters (available in multiple Indian languages).

Why Roots

Roots was launched in April 2024.  It currently supports over 100 CSOs and COs and over 600 people have already leveraged its capacity building offerings.  Roots provides a much-needed platform for Donors to extend capacity building support to their grantees and also support smaller organizations who require this resilience building.

Do visit www.rootslearning.org to learn more about this platform.

Do reach out to vidya@phicus.org if you would like to explore how you can leverage Roots for your own teams and grantee partners!
