The Situational Leadership® model, created by Paul Hersey, challenges the notion of a universal leadership style. Instead, it offers leaders a flexible framework to adapt their approach based on their team members’ needs. The core idea is follower development, which depends on a leader’s ability to evaluate an individual’s competence (task-related skills) and commitment (willingness to perform the task). The model identifies four leadership styles to be the right leader at the right time.
